A large doleful opaque eye stared blindly, helplessly into the hunter's set face. The eye was framed by millions of silver-grey, leathery wrinkles and a slow trickle of blood.
The hunter stared at the sorry sight of the bull elephant. It lay splayed on the ground with one of its horns missing and blood dripping from a fresh injury. A remarkable curved pink scar ran along its face, cutting across its blind left eye. It looked like a battered, grey tent that had been blown away in a tempest.
The hunter had been sent to kill it, because, half-blind, it was as much of a danger to itself as it was to others. He placed a steady hand
When I'm drowning in a sea of my own tears.
When I'm losing the battle to my own fears.
You come like a lantern and help me rekindle,
You light the way, until my doubts dwindle.
You share your wings and lift me high.
You give me your shoulder upon to cry.
And though my tears slow you down,
You still find time to fix my frown.
You bring me laughter when I've got doubt,
You give me a smile when I've got a pout.
You help me up when I begin to fall.
You protect me like a weathered wall.
You show me the light, when I'm in shadow,
You remind me of the dawn tomorrow.
You set me free from my pain.
You anchor me despite the strain,
You hold me fast,

Hi Everyone!
I'm super excited to join Deviantart and I can't wait to start submitting art, poems and stories!
I am an artist/poet/author.
I enjoy drawing and writing stories about OCs.
I will always read my comments, although I might not always respond.
Constructive criticism is always welcome.
This is a ridiculously late reply (and probably slightly unnecessary), but I just want to say: It's a pleasure and your painting and the emotions it conveys through colour and symbolism are amazing. Enjoy your morning/evening!
